Will you sign an Open Letter in support of a Youth Experience Scheme?

Two weeks ago the Young European Movement (YEM) went to Downing Street to deliver a simple message to the Government – the UK needs a Youth Experience Scheme with the EU, and it needs it soon. They were equipped with an open letter signed by MPs, Councillors, CEOs, members of the House of Lords, and many others, calling on the government to finally break the negotiating deadlocks between the UK and EU and get a Youth Experience Scheme over the line.

With a new Prime Minister on the way, there is a second chance to gather as many signatures as possible and deliver this letter to Downing Street again, putting the Youth Experience Scheme at the top of a brand-new agenda.

So, on behalf of the Young European Movement (YEM), and The European Movement (UK) will you add your name to the open letter and be part of making sure that the next resident of Number 10 knows, with absolute certainty, that the UK needs, and very much wants, a Youth Experience Scheme?

Yes. I'll sign!

A Youth Experience Scheme with the EU could open the door for young people in both the UK and EU to a world of life-changing opportunities, the kind that the generation before them enjoyed not all that long ago.

This is why YEM’s open letter is calling for three key things:

  1. For the government to secure a formal agreement with the EU on this before the UK-EU Summit.

  2. To relieve the negotiation deadlock by abandoning the demand for an artificial cap on numbers and, instead, agree to monitor the participation levels with the provision for an emergency break should numbers become unsustainable.

  3. To ensure that the scheme is socially inclusive by compromising with the EU on the study fees to be paid by EU students, and minimising additional costs and financial requirements on young students coming to the UK.

Add my name to the Open Letter

Thank you, on behalf of the Young European Movement (YEM), and The European Movement (UK)
